I am a native North Carolinian who is happy to be back in the Tar Heel state. I was born in Raleigh and I am a graduate of Broughton High School and N.C. State's Meteorology program. The Raleigh Tornado of 1988 and Hurricane Hugo in 1989 fueled my interest in weather when I was in high school.
After I graduated from N.C. State, I attended Mississippi State's graduate program in Broadcast Meteorology. During my ten year career as a Meteorologist I have had the chance to cover: blizzards, floods, tornadoes, and yes even some hurricanes. I have worked in: Rapid City, SD, Parkersburg, WV, Abilene, TX and most recently Lafayette, LA. I was a Chief Meteorologist in Parkersburg and Abilene. These wonderful opportunities have given me a wide range of experience in severe weather situations. In 1998 I was awarded the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval.
I have been married for seven years to my wonderful wife Elizabeth and we have a son named Winston and a daughter named Anna-Scott. We also have a dachshund mixed dog named Texas (You can probably guess where we got him). I love sports such as: golf, basketball, and tennis. I'm also a big fan of John Grisham books. I am very happy to be back in North Carolina to cheer my beloved N.C. State Wolfpack through thick and thin.
Currently I am serving as President of New Hanover County Citizen Corp. This organization is dedicated to preparing for and managing a wide range of possible emergency situations. I am also more than happy to share my weather knowledge and experience with your school or civic organization. Feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
