Teen girls charged in connection to house fire near Ashley HS

NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WECT) – Two teenage girls have been arrested and charged in connection to an unoccupied mobile home fire that took place Feb. 8.

According to Sgt. Brewer with the New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Summer Leigh Lentz, 17, and Kandice Long, 16 have each been charged with one count of burning an uninhabited home and one count of breaking and entering.

After deputies responded to the fire in the 7200 block of Fontana Drive, fire marshals and sheriff's detectives investigated the cause.

The suspects were arrested after the authorities spoke with several people and neighbors.

Lentz is currently being held in the New Hanover County jail under a $125,000 bond, while Long was given a $5,000 bond and released to her parents.
